Why do Fillers?

Fillers are safe and time tested injectable products that provide affordable, non-surgical facial rejuvenation for the following purpose:

  • Correcting the volume loss
  • Restoring the facial shape and improving the lines in facial skin
  • Hydrating and stimulating new collagen production to make the skin looks supple and plump

What is a typical treatment like?

A consultation to discuss your treatment goals is absolutely necessary. It allows Dr. Wong to review your facial features and discuss with you the priorities and the areas that need filler correction and augmentation.

A full financial counselling of the fees will be carried out before you proceed with the treatment. The cost of treatment is dependent on the type and quantity of filler that will be used.

Numbing cream is usually applied on the treatment area before the injection. Sometimes local anaesthesia injection is administered for more sensitive skin. Even lips fillers can be completely pain-free under appropriate anaesthesia. The whole treatment usually takes about 15-45 minutes. Dr. Wong will use either fine needle or blunt cannula depending on the area and the depth of treatment. The result is immediate and visible. You can apply makeup immediately after the treatment and resume normal activities.

Frequently Asked Questions About Filler Injections

What are the possible side effects?

The most common side effect is bruising and minor swelling. These are usually mild or moderate in nature, and are short-lived (7 days or less).

What kind of results can I expect with Fillers?

The improvement is durable but not permanent. The results may last up to one year before it wears off gradually. Top up injections can be repeated every 8 to 12 months. If you discontinue the fillers injection, your appearance will not be any worse, as it will just gradually revert back to your original condition.

What are the types of Fillers?

    Fillers with Hyaluronic acid (HA)

It is the most commonly used because of its enormous ability to bind water e.g. Juvederm, Restylane, Teoxane and Stylage. HA fillers help to instantly reduce the appearance of unwanted wrinkles, restore fullness to the skin, and giving the face a natural and softer look. In Assurance Skin Clinic, we use Restylane and Stylage which are either FDA or CE approved.

    Stimulating fillers

These are the alternative to HA fillers and they have 2 properties. Firstly, they add immediate volume to help smooth facial wrinkles and give a lifting effect to reduce the signs of ageing, just like HA fillers. Secondly, they contain active ingredients that stimulate collagen production in the skin to help the skin regain its original plumpness and elasticity. The overall effect is a youthful appearance with gradual improvement and natural looking results e.g. Radiesse (Calcium Hydroxyapatite), Ellanse (Polycaprolactone) and Sculptra (Poly-L-Lactic Acid)

Is there a difference between Botox and dermal filler?

Yes there is a 100% difference between Botox and fillers. Botox stops the small muscles in your face from making the movements that cause wrinkles, whilst dermal fillers plump from below the wrinkle to smooth them out and promote the youthful look. Botox usually lasts between 4-6 months whereas fillers tend to last around 12 months.
